Went to really great new Italian cafe/deli on Caledonian Road today. Simply taking the name of it’s address, 327 Caledonian has a short menu with just a few breakfast options, including scrambled eggs with grilled pancetta, which are served until 2. The rest of the menu is made up of 3 pasta dishes, 2 salads, a dish of mixed crostini served with salad and roasted vegetables, and a mixed antipasti board which is what we wen for. For £5 per person I was amazed at what we received: Succulent cold roast pork A dark air dried ham, with an intense flavour Wild boar salami Buffalo mozzarella with cherry tomatoes, rocket and balsamic A soft creamy cheese with a strong blue flavour, although white A soft but firm smoked cheese A crumbly pecorino Artichoke hearts, sun dried tomatoes and the best olives I have ever, yes EVER tasted. And I am possibly the biggest olive fan you’ll ever meet… Not that you have. I apologise for the lack of the correct Italian names for everything we ate, but the waitress, though very charming, didn’t speak very good English and just nodded at me when I asked… Anyway perhaps these descriptions are more useful to you, if deciding whether or not this would be your kind of place. It was certainly mine!
